I have so many pictures for you today. I simply could not decide on any less as I had such a wonderful time in New York and this photo shoot on the Highline kind of has a bigger meaning for me. I’ll tell you why.
In the beginning of this year I took a class at Central Saint Martins College of the Arts in London. Art Direction for Fashion – and you can guess it, I absolutely adored it. The 8 week course task was to come up with a fashion shoot concept for a spring summer trend spotted from last year’s fashion shows that would affect 2015. I screened many catwalk pictures on vogue.com and quickly figured that translucency would be a big trend for this year’s hot season.
What I love about this trend is, that it gives you control of what you conceal and reveal. It is sexy but still elegant and so rewarding for my figure in particular. I usually like wearing skirts with knee length. But sometimes in summer I don’t feel entirely happy in short skirts, depending on my physical shape. This skirt is very much appropriate and beautifully conceals with a slimming effect. I bought it at Theory, find a similar one here.
With a crop top and a long blazer, I find this outfit vey trendy and beautiful. It is more for an after work event, but for some of you this might also be something to wear at your headquarters during the day. Michael Kors has really cute red shoulder bags that add more fun to this outfit, find the one I am wearing right here.
For me it was a fantastic experience bringing a concept to life. In Art Direction I would have worked with models and a professional crew. In New York it was just me and my camera on a tripod. But I very much enjoyed experimenting on my own and figuring out how pictures would look like when shot on location.
The Highline is so beautiful. I always look for it when being in New York. The flowers and greens that blend in with the crowded city. But also the coolness that comes with it. This here is a photo of a very popular parking garage advertising around 10th Ave W and 2oth Street, I think :).
Walking the Highline I came by this amazing wall painting from one of my favorite artists. When Ed Rusha exhibited in the “Haus der Kunst” in Munich I went and saw his work 7 times in a row, because it speaks to me so much. One of his paintings was transferred to this wall and I loved it so much that I sat across from it along with other people just looking at it with aspiration.
From me to you: a big hug and tomorrow a great start back in the office.
