Have you ever wondered what body type you actually are? We kind of know our shape and what works better or worse clothing wise, but do we really know details about it? And do we shop with our body shape in mind?
I did not so far. To be honest I was enjoying shopping always pretty much on a spontaneous habit and loved it. But when looking into my closed I find it hard to see a pattern I can easily play with when getting dressed.
Too often I wonder “what to wear” in the morning”. I have all sorts of clothes in my wardrobe, all kind of colors and styles. It’s not a bad thing having a selection to choose from, however thinking about it I came to the conclusion to maybe starting to be more targeted with the things I invest in and spend money for. All single items also add up over time and if you don’t make use of it, it is basically a waste of money. I think the lack of having something to wear deals a lot with the items that don’t entirely match my body type but me not being aware of it.
So, I researched body types and created a chart for you that makes it real simple to understand:
Please note, that most body forms are a mix out of the 4 listed above. All body forms have something special to stand out for, whether that is your upper or lower body, or everything. For all of us there is parts you want to accentuate and others you will want to visually take back a little. The four mentioned body types come in all sizes, so for instance if you are rectangle it can mean that you are skinny or have more volume. Meaning it is about the shape not about the size.
Let’s take a look at my body shape. For myself I categorize my figure somewhere between hourglass and pear. It’s a pretty common figure shape as I heard.
Once you figure out your body type, I think you will be able to match the right clothes and make the right decisions only spending money for styles that really suit you well and help accentuate the right parts of your body. Maybe this helps you and you find it interesting, too.
Disclaimer: Everything on my blog is my personal opinion and bought with my own money. All outfits I wear on my blog, I actually wear at work (a large corporate headquarters). So, it’s kind of a real girl – real work life fashion diary. I hope you enjoy reading and may find some ideas and inspiration. Would be lovely to connect over #businessoutfits.
