Working at the headquarters in Munich I usually take public transportation – quick and easy. But as soon as the sun comes out I am getting on my city bike riding to work. Although there is not only good sides to riding your bike to work, the fact of detoxing subway air during the warm season overweighs.
The fresh breeze in my face on my bike in the mornings wakes me up for work and I am assured to be balancing the chocolate bar I am craving in the afternoon from the corporate vending machine.
Fresh air in my face but sweat under my arms?! Well, it is not that much of a workout as I ride with moderation. However, I am keeping a small spray deo with me and check in on it before entering my desk area. There is always a restroom on my way in. Outfit wise I find it a bit inconvenient riding the bike to work, to be honest.
Heels and bikes actually work, but it is the same for public transportation: you simply don’t want to ruin your beautiful footwear prior to any office hours. And yes, it is not practical at all. So, I am taking a second pair of shoes if necessary, but as a committed representative of flats and ballerinas, I not always see need for it.
SkirtS and Dresses
I don’t know about you, but for me both works well. I wear more skirts and dresses than trousers. Knee-length is no problem at all on a bike, but anything longer or shorter feels challenging. Shorter skirts than upper knee height I would not suggest anyway for work. And midi-skirts simply don’t work for me on a bicycle. If there is any other trick to it, please let me know.
The only thing bothering me is honestly the weather. Most times it is really fresh in the mornings and then it heats up for the rest of the day. I am not a friend of switching clothes at work; Instead I wear tights and get rid of them during the day, if I get too warm.
The best form, probably. My trick is to let your blouse or button-up hang loose while riding for more comfort and wrinkle-defense. I put the shirt in when stopping at the nearest restroom entering the office. One, two spritzer of deodorant and adjusting the blouse, maybe combing my hair or removing the hair band and my office day can begin.
