5 Tricks To Master A Spontaneous Video Interview

Hello Everybody,

Have you ever been interviewed for a YouTube video? Guess what, I have not until a couple of days ago. Imagine how nervous I was when I got spontaneously interviewed on TATH.me at the DLD women’s conference. #firsttime #neverforget :) Aaaaand here it is – in German – Enjoy!

A big thanks to you, Jeanny, for interviewing me and putting me out there.

Today At The Headquarters

I checked on some of my friends who work in PR, thanks Anto!, and got some really easy tricks on how to do better. See my review video below

5 TRICKS TO MASTER A SPONTANEOUS VIDEO INTERVIEW

1// UPRIGHT POSTURE

I had the situation that the interviewer was on her knees under me and I looked down to her and also bend down my shoulders. It is much better if you sit or stay really straight and pull your shoulders back.

2// SAY YOUR BRAND NAME

Right in the beginning say your company or product name. I missed saying where you find me right away, e.g. “I have a blog called Today At The Headquarters. On TATH.me or todayattheheadquarters.com I document business outfits.”

3// MAKE A POINT

Short sentences are key. Package one statement or thought in short sentences. Pause when done and wait for the next question. It is easier for the postproduction to cut the interview in a nice way and will make you look you know what you are talking about.

4// MISTAKE? – START OVER

If you express yourself in a wrong way – stop – and start over again. The video will be edited anyway and they can cut this part out easily. Obviously this only applies when it’s not a live interview.

5// TRUST YOUR INTERVIEWER

Your interviewer will help you understand what to do. I was told not to look in the camera and instead focus on her.

…and jap, I think it is common sense to always be friendly – especially when being interviewed. Also make sure to ask the interviewer before or after the interview: What the video is used for and where you can find it to spread the word about it. And the rest will be practice, I guess.

I hope this was interesting or useful for you. Let me know your tips and tricks.

Find me on Facebook under TATH and follow me there.

Thank you DLD for getting me out of my comfort zone and enabling me to explore new things! If you also like to push the envelope of content and connections head on over to their website dld-conference.com

XOXO,

Corinna
